In the majority of cases, people from the other side of the earth, or even from Luthersburg, are not going to come to our website in search of salvation. In fact, those in need of Jesus are not all that likely to come to our church. So, why bother with a website at all? Here is part of the answer to that question; if the unsaved are not going to come to us, then we must prepare to go to them.
Our website contains information that can be life-changing for a digital visitor. This is the same information that each of us needs to know if we are to make evangelism our personal mission. One thing is certain, the majority of people that we meet each week are carrying a sin burden; they are not bound for heaven.
To be effective, we don’t need to memorize a large amount of material. Let’s start with what is called “The Roman road.” Here are four scripture verses that very simply explain God’s plan of salvation:
All have sinned
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
There is a penalty for our sin
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23
Jesus paid for our sin
But God commended his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Accepting his gift of salvation
Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13
While it is not a part of the Roman road, let’s not omit John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
What happens if someone shuts us out? We can leave the door open with this thought; Jesus wants us to love him, until our very last breath. Here’s a verse to help your message stay with your listener; “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20. Technically, this is Jesus speaking to the church at Philadelphia, but it reflects His desire each and every human being.
The next time you encounter someone in need, be ready to offer the relief that we know in Jesus Christ.
